Today is Constitution and Citizenship Day

📜 On September 17, 1787, the US Constitution was signed by 39 of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.

Starting in 1917, on September 17th of every year we honor the document that has shaped our democracy for more than two centuries by celebrating Constitution and Citizenship Day.

Here’s why this day matters:

✨ A Celebration of Our Principles

Constitution and Citizenship Day reminds us of the foundation of American democracy and the vision of our Founding Fathers who built a framework for freedom that continues to guide us.

📖 A Living Document

Our Constitution has grown with our nation through amendments that protect and expand civil rights. Today is a chance to reflect on that evolution and on the struggles and triumphs that brought us here.

⚖️ Our Rights and Responsibilities

The Constitution protects freedoms like speech, assembly, and due process. By understanding these rights, we also recognize our responsibility to uphold them – for ourselves and for each other.

💭 Let’s take a moment today to reflect, learn, and celebrate this enduring cornerstone of our democracy.
