LFD Open House

Thanks to The City of Loris, SC, The Loris Fire Department, and Fire Marshal Robert Rudelitch for putting together the Fire Prevention Week open house event last night.

🔋Lithium-ion batteries are all over our homes, garages, and even right in our pockets, and are a growing cause of fires. 🔥 LFD provided valuable education on how to safely buy, charge, and dispose of lithium-ion batteries for both kids and adults as well as some other fire-safety goodies!

Special thanks to Clint, a Loris volunteer firefighter, who gave me a tour of the equipment and trucks! 🧯 My dad was an Horry County firefighter when I was a kid, but it has been a long time since I was up close and personal with a firetruck! 🚒 Did you know our newest addition, a ladder truck, goes as high as 95 feet?!

They also invited a representative from Horry County 911, Cecilia Maldonado, who had some additional info to share. Did you know that you can text 911 in Horry County?! 🤳 As someone who works with contact centers, I enjoyed picking her brain about the dispatch call center, and am definitely going to take her up on the offer for a tour one day!

Overall, it was a great, informative evening! Thanks again to everyone involved in keeping Loris safe! 🙌
